Leyla McCalla Trio

Marquée par les traditions créoles, cajun et haïtienne mais également influencée par le folk, le blues et le jazz américains, la chanteuse et multi-instrumentiste nous plonge tantôt dans le bayou louisianais, tantôt dans le folklore haïtien, entre chants traditionnels revisités et compositions originales. Au violoncelle, au banjo ou à la guitare, en français, créole ou anglais, Leyla McCalla poursuit son exploration avec son nouvel album " A Day for the Hunter, A Day for the Prey ".

A Haitian-American settled in New Orleans who sings in French, Haitian Creole and English, Leyla McCalla plays cello, tenor banjo and guitar. Deeply influenced by traditional Creole, Cajun and Haitian music, as well as by American jazz and folk, her music is at once earthy, elegant, soulful and witty. It vibrates with three centuries of history, yet also feels strikingly fresh, distinctive and contemporary.
