Pierre de Bethmann Trio ft. Nelson Veras

Le printemps 2022 a offert au trio de Pierre de Bethmann une importante activité de concert, autour d'un répertoire en permanente évolution, dont il était tentant de proposer une version enregistrée. Et c'est un nouvel alliage piano – guitare – contrebasse, s'organisant autour d'un son résolument différent, qui entrait en studio au cours de l'été 2022 afin de poursuivre la série des Essais sous une autre approche. Toujours féru de standards issus de multiples traditions musicales, toujours profondément attaché à l'idée d'en proposer une idée originale autant que profondément travaillée au fil des concerts, le trio se transforme ainsi par la personnalité exceptionnelle du guitariste Nelson Veras, proposant toute la finesse de son jeu au tandem préalablement formé par le pianiste et le contrebassiste.

Enregistré au plus proche des conditions de concert, tous trois musiciens dans la même pièce, sans casque, et par le système analogique CLASP, ce nouvel album, dans le prolongement de la série des Essais, se vit autant comme un bilan de parcours, que comme le début d'une nouvelle étape d'exploration sur le terrain infini des standards.

The spring of 2022 offered the trio of Pierre de Bethmann an important concert activity, around a constantly evolving repertoire, of which it was tempting to offer a recorded version. And it is a new piano – guitar – double bass alloy, organized around a resolutely different sound, which entered the studio during the summer of 2022 in order to continue the series of Essays under another approach. Always fond of standards from multiple musical traditions, always deeply attached to the idea of ??proposing an original idea as much as deeply worked over the concerts, the trio is thus transformed by the exceptional personality of guitarist Nelson Veras, offering all the finesse of his playing to the tandem previously formed by the pianist and the double bass player.

Recorded as closely as possible to concert conditions, all three musicians in the same room, without headphones, and by the analog CLASP system, this new album, in the extension of the Essays series, is seen as much as a review of the journey, as as the beginning of a new stage of exploration on the infinite terrain of standards.
